Ruszella Anne Slates, 76 of Leslie died Thurs., Nov. 17, 2022, at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital.
[private] She was born in Alma, July 12, 1946, the daughter of Russell and Wilna “Billie” (Conley) Slates. She graduated from St. Louis High School and attended Central Michigan University. She married Roger Lee Slates on Dec. 20, 1972 in Augusta, Georgia.
She was a resident of Leslie, and member of the Leslie United Methodist Church. She worked for General Telephone in Alma and later with Michigan Bell. She retired as a receptionist for Michigan Retailers Association in 2013. Her hobbies included card making, reading, and enjoying family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Roger; two daughters, Leigh’R Slates of Charleston, S.C., and Rebecca McCoy of Bath; one grandson, Miles McCoy; her sister, Margie Levy of Spencer, Okla., and two brothers, James Slates of Crystal River, Fla., and Stanley Slates of New Era; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sandra Slates of Southern Shores, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Wilna Slates; her brother-in-law, Jack Levy’ and sisters-in-law. Debra Slates and Suzie Slates.
Funeral services were held Mon., Nov. 21, 2022, at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma, with Pastor Lori Sykes officiating. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery, Alma. Visitation was held on Monday until the time of services at the funeral home.
