Arcada Township Garbage Collection and Disposal Special Assessment District
TO: ALL RECORD OWNERS OF OR PARTIES IN INTEREST IN LAND IN THE SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DISTRICT DESCRIBED BELOW:
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Township Board of Arcada Township, Gratiot County, Michigan, will hold a public hearing at 7:00 p.m. on September 11, 2023, at the Arcada Township Hall (3290 W Tyler Road, Alma, MI 48801), to review the proposed special assessment roll and hear objections thereto from certain record owners of land in the Township for the collection and disposal of garbage and rubbish (hereafter referred to as “garbage collection”) at an estimated cost to the Special Assessment District as outlined in a proposal dated May 4, 2023, from Granger Waste Services, Inc., that is available for inspection by the public, in a special assessment district described herein. The improvements and the special assessment district established by the Township Board as the district against which the cost of the improvements are to be assessed are generally described as follows:
Proposed Garbage Collection: Performing garbage collection and disposal services for residential properties within the Township.
Proposed Special Assessment District: All residential properties within the Township that qualify pursuant to the terms of the May 4, 2023 proposal submitted by Granger Waste Services, Inc.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the proposed special assessment roll has been prepared and is on file with the Township Clerk, Laureen Baxter, 3290 W Tyler Road, Alma, MI 48801, for public examination during ordinary business hours and at the public hearing. The proposed special assessment roll would assess the cost of the improvements to the properties benefitting therefrom, as follows: at the rates established by the May 4, 2023 proposal submitted by Granger Waste Services, Inc., and at rates approved by the Township Board thereafter.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the owner or any person having an interest in property within the proposed district may file a written appeal with the Michigan Tax Tribunal within thirty (30) days after confirmation of the special assessment roll. However, appearance and protest at the public hearing on the special assessment roll are required in order to appeal the special assessment to the Michigan Tax Tribunal. An owner or other party of interest or his or her agent may: (1) appear in person at the hearing to protest the special assessment; or (2) file his or her appearance or protest by letter before the close of the hearing.
The Township Board shall maintain a record of parties who appear to protest at the hearing. If the hearing is terminated or adjourned for the day before a party is provided the opportunity to be heard, a party whose appearance was recorded shall be considered to have protested the special assessment in person.
Arcada Township will provide auxiliary aids or services to individuals with disabilities. Persons needing such services should contact the office of the township clerk by writing or calling the clerk not less than four days before the public hearing.

The proposed budget of the Gratiot Conservation District for the 2024 fiscal year beginning October 1, 2023, will be presented to the Gratiot Conservation District Board for final approval at the regular monthly meeting at 8:00 am on September 15, 2023.
The public is invited to comment on the proposed budget at this time. Copies of the proposed budget will be available to the Gratiot Conservation District Office, located at the USDA Field office, 301 E. Commerce Dr., Ithaca, MI 48847 on September 13th.

Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held on the proposed Budget of Gratiot County, Michigan, for the fiscal year commencing October 1, 2023 and ending September 30, 2024, on ¬¬Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 4:30 p.m. in the Gratiot County Courthouse, Commissioners’ Room, 214 E. Center Street, Ithaca, Michigan 48847. A copy of the proposed Budget is available for public inspection during normal business hours at the Offices of the Board of Commissioners and County Clerk at 214 E. Center Street, Ithaca, Michigan. Copies of the budget are available on line at www.gratiotmi.com.
*THE PROPERTY TAX MILLAGE RATE PROPOSED TO BE LEVIED TO SUPPORT THE PROPOSED BUDGET WILL BE A SUBJECT OF THIS HEARING
