Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held on the proposed Budget of Gratiot County, Michigan, for the fiscal year commencing October 1, 2025 and ending September 30, 2026, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. in the Gratiot County Courthouse, Commissioners’ Room, 214 E. Center Street, Ithaca, Michigan 48847. A copy of the proposed Budget is available for public inspection during normal business hours at the Offices of the Board of Commissioners and County Clerk at 214 E. Center Street, Ithaca, Michigan. Copies of the budget are available on line at www.gratiotmi.com.

CEMETERY ORDINANCE AMENDMENT
ORDINANCE NO. 41
At a regular meeting of the Fulton Township Board, Gratiot County, Michigan, held at the Fulton Township Hall on July 28th, 2025 at 7:00 p.m., Township Board Member Bob Baxter moved to adopt the following ordinance, which motion was seconded by Township Board Member Mike Oberlitner4.
An Ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 40, the Fulton Township Cemetery Ordinance, to update fees for violations of ordinance provisions regarding the improper interment of cremains, in Fulton Township cemeteries, and in order to maintain the public health, safety, and welfare of the residents of Fulton Township.
FULTON TOWNSHIP, GRATIOT COUNTY, ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. AMENDMENT OF ORDINANCE NO. 40, SECTION 12, The Fulton Township Cemetery Ordinance, Section 12, shall be amended as follows:
SECTION 12 – CREMAINS
A. Interment of cremains and/or ashes of deceased are mandatory. No cremains shall be scattered or dispersed or displayed within Fulton Township Cemeteries.
B. A cremation must be interred at the head of a burial site.
C. Up to 2 cremations may be interred in a burial site.
D. Burial-transit permits are required to be filed with the Township Clerk for all cremation burials.
E. Any cremains that are deposited in Fulton Cemeteries, whether in the monument, bench or otherwise, is considered an interment.
F. Cremains that are placed in the Fulton Cemeteries without compliance with the Ordinance will be subject to an additional fee of double the initial permit fee or other sum as determined by resolution of the Township Board.
SECTION 2. SEVERABILITY: The provisions of this Ordinance are declared severable. If any part of this Ordinance is declared invalid for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, that declaration does not affect or impair the validity of all other provision that are not subject to that declaration.
SECTION 3. REPEAL: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with this Ordinances are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE: This Ordinance shall become effective the day after publication.
