An Ordinance to Amend Chapter 38: Utilities; Article II: Water; Section 41:

Rates, charges and fees of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Ithaca.

AMENDING CHAPTER 38: UTILITIES

OF THE CITY CODE OF ORDINANCES

An Ordinance to Amend Chapter 38: Utilities; Article II: Water; Section 41:

Rates, charges and fees of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Ithaca.

THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ITHACA, MICHIGAN DO ORDAIN:

Section 41 of Article II: Water; Chapter 38: Utilities is hereby repealed in its entirety and replaced with the following:

ARTICLE II. WATER

Sec. 38-41.  Rates, charges and fees.

(a)       All rates, fees and charges required by this article shall be amended through City Council resolution, and shall be considered due as of the date billed and delinquent one month after the billing date for quarterly billing cycles and delinquent 15 days after the billing date for monthly billing cycles.

(b)       Charges for service connections on streets shall be based on a flat fee relative to the service size required.  Charges for a service connection may be revised when deemed necessary by the City Manager, subject to approval by the City Council.

(c)       A penalty established by City Council resolution shall be applied one month following the billing date for quarterly billing cycles and 15 days following the billing date for monthly billing cycles.  Services with unpaid balances two months following the billing date for quarterly billing cycles and on the 10th day of the following month for monthly billing cycles will be subject to discontinuance; except, where a utility service changes name due to a user moving, all rates, fees and charges accumulated to date shall be considered due immediately, and discontinuance of services to such unit will remain until all fees are paid.

(d)       The City Council may make such rules and regulations governing the operation of such water system, rates, etc. as it shall deem necessary.  Such rules and regulations shall have the same force and effect as ordinances.

This ordinance is hereby adopted by action of the City Council dated this 19th day of September, 2023.

The Gratiot County Road Commission is accepting applications for a Scraper Truck Driver Position. This position requires a current valid State of Michigan Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a Group A and N endorsement.
