CITY OF ALMA/CITY OF ST LOUIS
31st ANNUAL
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION PROGRAM
June 4, 5, & 6, 2024

The City of Alma along with the City of St Louis will be sponsoring its Thirtieth Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program on June 4, 5, and 6, 2024. Solid waste customers desiring to use this service should call (989) 463-8339 to schedule an appointment to drop off their material at the Alma Public Works garage located at 800 Washington Street. Customers are encouraged to utilize this service to dispose of all unwanted waste typically considered hazardous and not permitted to be placed with the weekly trash collection services. Examples of these include:

Pesticides and Herbicides
Solvents, Strippers and Turpentine
Paints-Oil based and Latex
Rodent Baits
Chemical Household Cleaners and Acids
Auto Fluids-Antifreeze and Lubricants
Pool/Spa Chemicals
Household and Automotive Batteries
Pressurized tanks (i.e. fire extinguishers, LP tanks, etc.)
Fluorescent light bulbs (tubes only)

ALSO

Passenger and Light Truck Tires*

*Will not accept OTRs which include loader tires, airplane tires, solid/gel filled tires, forestry tires, logging tires, mining tires, earth mover tires, golf tires with rim, rubber tracks of any kind, nor tires with excessive dirt and parts or shreds of tires.

All items to be disposed of must be in original containers. Unidentified substances cannot be accepted. Leaky items should be placed in a plastic or metal container with a secure top. Containers are limited in size to 5-gal or 40lbs in weight. Substances should not be mixed together.

The following items CAN NOT be accepted:
Gasoline
Ammunition or Explosives
Radioactive Materials (i.e. smoke detectors)

No Dried Paint or Empty Paint Cans
Unidentifiable Materials
E-Waste (electronics, computers, cell phones)

Prescription Medication
Alma Police Department is a collection site
Outdated or Unused Medications in original containers (Pills only)

Sharps (Needles)
Gratiot Community Mental Health is a Sharps collection site

This program is only available to City of Alma/City of St Louis Solid Waste customers. There is no direct charge for this service as costs incurred for the Household Hazardous Waste program are assessed in customer billing. Identification will be required at the drop off site. Minutes for Regular Meeting on May 14, 2024

Meeting called to order by Mikek at 7:00 pm.
• Minutes for April 9th read and approved.
• Bills were reviewed and approved for payment.
• Bunting provided an update regarding issues in the county
• Website needs updated for hall rental – Howd to look into
• Edging around hall needs fixed/updated – Mikek will take care of
• New road gravel sems to be good this year
• Teeter had 4 permits that were approved

o Approach to barn on Union
o Car port on Bagley
o New Home on Madison
• Approved PDF filler app for zoning
• Reminder by clerk of upcoming elections, August 6th & November 5th

NORTH SHADE TOWNSHIP PLANNING

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PROPOSED ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT

The North Shade Township Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on June 17, 2024 at 6:00 P.M. (following a variance public hearing of the zoning board of appeals), at the North Shade Township Hall located at the corner of Roosevelt and Warner Roads, Carson City, Michigan 48811, to consider a proposed amendment to the North Shade Township Zoning Ordinance. If adopted, the proposed ordinance amendment would, in summary, reduce the rear yard setback requirement for all zoning districts to 30 feet, consistent with Michigan law, for the public health, safety, and general welfare of residents and visitors to North Shade Township.
Copies of the proposed Zoning Ordinance amendment are available upon request to the Township Clerk using the contact information below. Written comments on the proposed Zoning Ordinance amendments will be received at the Township Clerk’s mailing address and e-mail address below, up to and including the day of the public hearing.
North Shade Township will provide auxiliary aids or services to individuals with disabilities. Persons needing such services should kindly contact the office of the Township Clerk by writing or calling the Clerk not less than four (4) days before the public hearing using the phone number below or by utilizing the Michigan Relay Service (7-1-1).

General Notice
City of Ithaca (Owner) is requesting Bids for the construction of the following Project:

Water Main Improvements

EGLE Project 7841-01

Sealed Bids for the construction of the Project will be received at 129 W. Emerson Street, Ithaca, MI 48847 until June 24, 2024 at 1 p.m. local time. At that time, the Bids received will be publicly opened and read.
The Project includes the following Work:
Constructing distribution water main and lead water service replacement in the City of Ithaca along Whispering Pines Street from Cedar Drive to St. Charles Road, along St. Charles Road from Whispering Pines Street to N. Pine River Street, along S. Pine River Street from Railroad to Center Street, and along Barnes Street from Center Street to North Street.

Principal items of work include but are not limited to:

3,000 Ft Water Main, PVC, 8 inch, Directionally Bored
2,800 Ft Water Main, PVC, 8 inch, Tr Det G

Obtaining the Bidding Documents
Prospective Bidders may examine the Bidding Documents at the Issuing Office on Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and may obtain copies of the Bidding Documents from the Issuing Office as described below.
Bidding Documents also may be examined at Dodge Data & Analytics; Construction Association of Michigan; the Builders Exchanges of Lansing and Grand Rapids (Builders Exchanges are authorized to share the contract documents with other exchanges of Michigan); the office of the City of Ithaca, 129 W. Emerson Street, Ithaca, MI 48847, on Monday through Friday during regular business hours; and the office of the Engineer, 127 S. Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858 on Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
Drawings, Specifications, and other Contract documents for submitting a bid must be obtained upon application at the office of ROWE Professional Services Company, upon the payment of $40 per set for prints, or $30 for portable document format (PDF) files which can be obtained after completing the Request Bid Package form found at rowepsc.com/visitor-resources/plan-holder. There is a 3 percent convenience fee on all credit card fees. The website will be updated periodically with addenda, lists of registered plan holders, and other information relevant to submitting a Bid for the Project. Prints and PDF files may be purchased together for $60.
Partial sets of Bidding Documents will not be available from the Issuing Office. Plans and specifications will not be mailed/e-mailed until payment is received. The non-refundable fee shall be by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover accepted) or in check form and shall be drawn payable to ROWE Professional Services Company. The Engineer’s address is ROWE Professional Services Company, 127 S. Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858 and the telephone number is (989) 772-2138. Bidding documents must be purchased from the Engineer. Bids submitted on forms obtained anywhere besides the office of ROWE Professional Services Company will not be accepted. Neither Owner nor Engineer will be responsible for full or partial sets of Bidding Documents, including Addenda if any, obtained from sources other than the Issuing Office.

Pre-bid Conference
A pre-bid conference will be held on June 12, 2024, at 2 p.m. local time at 129 W. Emerson Street, Ithaca,MI 48847. Attendance at the pre-bid conference is highly encouraged but is not mandatory.

Instructions to Bidders
Bid security shall be furnished in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders.
The above-referenced project is a federally funded activity authorized under the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974. All successful bidders must comply with the federal labor standards, including the Davis-Bacon Act and the Copeland Anti-Kickback legislation; federal equal opportunity requirements; and Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968.
City of Ithaca, hereinafter called the Owner, reserves the right to reject any or all Proposals and to waive any formality or technicality in any Proposal in the interest of the Owner.
