Minutes for Regular Meeting on June 11, 2024
Present: Fowler, Mikek, Howd, Devine
Absent: Humm
Others: Richard Teeter (Zoning officer), Jan Bunting, Lewisa (DTE)
Meeting called to order by Mikek at 7:00 pm.
• Howd read minutes from May 14, 2024. Motion to accept by Fowler, 2nd by Devine – all ayes – motion carried
• Fowler reviewed the bills for the month. Motion to accept by Devine, 2nd by Howd – all ayes, Motion carried.
• Public
o Bunting (County Commissioner)
– Pass 4-1 to join with Isabella County for Recycling
– Petitions being passed for various items going around
o Louisa (DTE) –
– Just here if there are any questions
– DTE is a good neighbor and they try to help when they can
– Opposition did not get enough signatures to have ballot proposal on November ballot, so State will take over zoning at end of November
– EGLE grant of $5k/megawatt
• If approved for an application by September, then Bethany would qualify for grant
• Devine
o County has until July 6 to state their intent to what there plan will be for Materials Management Planning Committee – Part 115
o MMWA director is the chair for Saginaw County
o Devine asked what it the counties plan – 2 people to represent Gratiot County at the meetings – more information
o Cardboard is now more valuable, but not paying for recycling
o State takes over if plan not in place
o Brian will follow up with MMWA for more information as to what this means for the township
o Greg will make a few calls to see what he can find out

o No update on special meeting for cell town or solar
o Continue to see about update website
o Wisner & Lincoln light is up and working
• Fowler
o Audit was done – waiting on follow-up
• Howd
o Upcoming elections:
– Primary, August 6
– General, November 5

The Gratiot County Treasurer will offer tax- reverted real estate at public auction on August 2nd, 2024.
