NOTICE OF ORDINANCE ADOPTION:

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE TOWNSHIP ZONING ORDINANCE TO

REGULATE CERTAIN ADULT USE MARIHUANA ESTABLISHMENTS OPERATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE LAW

On May 13, 2022, Seville Township (the “Township”) adopted Ordinance No 2022-0513, An Ordinance To Amend The Township Zoning Ordinance To Regulate Certain Recreational Adult Use Marihuana Establishments Operated In Accordance With State Law (the “Ordinance”). The following is a summary of the Ordinance. A true copy of the Ordinance is available at the Township Hall. 8143 W Madison Rd, PO Box 222. Elwell. MI 48832.

Section l.  Amendment of Section 11.9 to the Zoning Ordinance. This section amends section ll.9 of the Zoning Ordinance to, among other things, refer to “adult use” instead of “recreational” marihuana and to allow two growers in the Township operating under, up to and including, a Class C license with conditions.

Section 2.  Validity’ and Severability.  This section provides that if any portion of this Ordinance is found invalid for any reason, such holding shall not be construed as affecting the validity of the remaining portions of this Ordinance or any master plan, interim zoning ordinance or initial zoning ordinance adopted by the Township.

Section 3. Repealer. This section provides that any ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed only to the extent necessary to give the Ordinance full force and effect.

Section 4. Effective Date. This section provides that the Ordinance shall become effective seven days following publication

CITY OF ALMA/CITY OF ST LOUIS

29th ANNUAL

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION PROGRAM

June 7, 8, & 9, 2022

The City of Alma along with the City of St Louis will be sponsoring its twenty-ninth annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program on June 7, 8, & 9, 2022. Solid waste customers desiring to use this service should call (989) 463-8339 to schedule an appointment to drop off their material at the Alma Public Works garage located at 800 Washington Street. Customers are encouraged to utilize this service to dispose of all unwanted waste typically considered hazardous and not permitted to be placed with the weekly trash collection services. Examples of these include:

Pesticides and Herbicides

Solvents, Strippers and Turpentine

Paints-Oil based and Latex

Rodent Baits

Chemical Household Cleaners and Acids

Auto Fluids-Antifreeze and Lubricants

Pool/Spa Chemicals

Household and Automotive Batteries

Pressurized tanks (i.e. fire extinguishers, LP tanks, etc.)

Fluorescent light bulbs (tubes only)

ALSO

Passenger and Light Truck Tires*

*Will not accept OTRs which include loader tires, airplane tires, solid/gel filled tires, forestry tires, logging tires, mining tires, earth mover tires, golf tires with rim, rubber tracks of any kind, nor tires with excessive dirt and parts or shreds of tires.

All items to be disposed of must be in original containers. Unidentified substances can not be accepted. Leaky items should be placed in a plastic or metal container with a secure top. Containers are limited in size to 5-gal or 40lbs in weight. Substances should not be mixed together.

The following items CAN NOT be accepted:

Gasoline

Ammunition or Explosives

Radioactive Materials (i.e. smoke detectors)

No Dried Paint or Empty Paint Cans

Unidentifiable Materials

E-Waste (electronics, computers, cell phones)

Prescription Medication

Alma Police Department is a collection site

Outdated or Unused Medications in original containers (Pills only)

Sharps (Needles)

Gratiot Community Mental Health is a Sharps collection site

This program is only available to City of Alma/City of St Louis Solid Waste customers. There is no direct charge for this service as costs incurred for the Household Hazardous Waste program are assessed in customer billing. Identification will be required at the drop off site. For additional information, please call the Alma Public Works Department at (989) 463-8339, or Alma City Hall at (989) 463-9500.

This program is available to City of Alma/City of St Louis Solid Waste customers only.

BOARD MEMBER VACANCY

Due to a recent resignation, the Ashley Community Schools Board of Education is seeking candidates to fill a vacant board seat through December 2022.  Interested persons must be a resident and registered voter of the Ashley School District and are asked to submit a letter of interest and qualifications for the position no later than 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2022.

Notice to Arcada Township Residents

Notice is hereby given that Arcada Township Commission will hold a public hearing on June 1, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at Arcada Township Hall, 3290 W. Tyler Road, Alma MI 48801 for the purposes of receiving comments and to decide to eliminate the 25% maximum lot coverage limitations listed in Section 17.13 (2)(a)(iii) of the Arcada Township Zoning Ordinance Specific for Marihuana Facilities and Establishments.

Minutes for Regular Meeting on May 10, 2022

Meeting was called to order by Mikek at 7:00 p.m.

  • Minutes for April 12th and April 27th read and approved
  • Bills were reviewed and approved for payment
  • STG gave a presentation on potential website development and hosting – will discuss next week
  • Mikek gave update on Fire Board Meeting
  • Mikek gave update on drain at trailer park
  • Fowler reported that the ARPA report was submitted
  • Fowler received communication back from Moolenaar’s office regarding census numbers that they are looking into it
  • Devine – Waste Authority meeting on June 13th to get additional information on renewal
  • Meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
