Patients who have opted to receive text messages from MyMichigan Health will soon see a new number popping up on their mobile phone screens. MyMichigan is switching its Short Messaging Service (SMS) to Epic’s Hello World application, offering more timely delivery and better integration with the patient’s electronic record and communication preferences. Patients who have previously opted in will receive a welcome text from SMS short code 96393 on Thursday, June 13, 2024, and will continue to receive future texts from that number according to their communication preference settings in Epic. Patients who have not opted into text messages will continue to receive appointment reminders via voice calls.
MyMichigan Health offers text messaging to provide patients with convenient, timely notifications about transactions including appointment reminders, prescription reminders, MyChart notifications, updates related to visits or care management, one-time passcodes, billing alerts and other patient-related messages. Patients who are not already receiving text messages may opt in by texting START to 96393 or by requesting text messages when checking in at their next appointment. They may opt out at any time by texting STOP to 96393 or by asking MyMichigan Health for assistance. Patients may manage their communication preferences by logging into their MyChart account and selecting Account Settings > Communication Preferences.
Depending on the patient’s mobile phone plan, message and data rates may apply. Patients who would like help or have questions about this service may text HELP to 96393 or contact MyChart Support at (989) 839-6299 or mychart@mymichigan.org. Phone support hours are weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
