To the Editor:
In response to the letter that Randall Mead (who doesn’t even live in Alma) wrote on January 6th issue of GCH.
I can un-appreciate that Mr. Mead has an opinion about “refugees” coming into a community that he himself doesn’t live in or pay taxes in. The problem isn’t “housing refugees”, that’s not what’s going on here. This is Human Trafficking with government approval. It’s so ironic that people walk around all day with computers in their hands but either refuse or don’t know how to look at what is really going on at our southern border. In the month of April, 2019 we had around 20,000 illegal crossing where the person was apprehended. The very next year in the same month of April we had 178,000 illegal border crossings.
“Refugees” don’t wait until the guy they like is in office to run away from danger and send their babies into the arms of coyotes that will most likely rape the children and or hold them hostage for money or sell them into the sex trade. That is the reality of what is going on down their. It’s all about human trafficking and I don’t wish my community to incentivize more of that, but that exactly what’s going to happen.
This is all being orchestrated and encouraged by our administration. They said in their primary that they would give free healthcare and free whatever else if they were elected, they literally told people to come.
My point is, if you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day, but if you teach a man to fish, he will eat for a life time. We can’t “fix” the border issue by incentivizing more illegal border crossings. We are telling people in South America to send their children on a most dangerous journey and we will take care of them right? Well then we are responsible for everything that happens to them along the way then.
It’s ironic that some think we are “helping” people by doing this. All we’ve done is made it possible for more “rape trees” to be made. If you don’t know what those are than your opinion about this whole matter is irrelevant because of your ignorance. Get yourself informed and I don’t mean by watching tv. To many good alternatives for honest news for people to be this misinformed and uninformed.
