Huskies defeat Heston Academy

Breckenridge football is trending up. With last Thursday’s season-opening win over Charlton Heston Academy, going back to last season the Huskies have now won four of their last five games. They’ll try to made it five of six tomorrow, Friday, at home against St. Charles in their league opener.
After a scoreless first quarter against Charlton Heston, which came down from St. Helen, the Huskies got on the board five seconds into the second quarter on a one-yard touchdown run by Trey Most. It was set up by a 68-yard catch by Noah Barr from Gavin Corbat.
Most scored again with 6:10 left in the first half on an eight-yard run, and Breckenridge went into the half leading 15-6. That score held until there were 5 minutes to play in the game, when Most ran one in from six yards out.
Breckenridge’s sophomore quarterback Gavin Corbat was the picture of efficiency, completing 8-of-10 passes for 138 yards. Barr had five receptions for 106 yards nad Most three catches for 32 yards.
Most carried the ball 15 times for 67 yards and three touchdowns, while Carter Suhr had 66 yards on 16 rushing attempts.

Breckenridge junior lineman Braxton Clapp was a monster on defense, with 17 tackles, including two behind the line, and a sack. Corbat had two tackles for loss and a sack, and Suhr made six tackles, one for a loss.
Breckenridge begins its league schedule in the MSAC-Blue tomorrow, Friday, with another home game, against St. Charles.

Fulton puts up 40
With a first-year starting quarterback, and a new-look offense, Fulton clicked like the Pirates had been doing it for ages in their 40-26 8-man football win at Coleman last Thursday.
Running the triple option, that new quarterback, Fulton junior Zach Litwiller, completed 14-of-23 passes for 214 yards with four touchdowns and an interception, while running 12 times for 90 yards and a touchdown. He broke free for a 55-yard touchdown on the Pirates’ first possession. They led 14-0 after the first quarter, 20-6 at halftime and 28-12 going into the fourth quarter.
Litwiller connected with four different receivers, most often Bryson Sattler. Sattler had eight catches for 173 yards and four touchdowns. Parker Billings and Kaiden Oliver had identical stat lines of two caches for 24 yards each.
Sattler excelled going both ways, as on defense he had a dozen tackles and a forced fumble. Coltin Kus led Fulton’s defense with 14 tackles. Oliver had 10 and Connor Cunningham nine tackles. Layne Speckin forced a fumble, and Cam Diana recovered one. Litwiller also made an interception. Fulton’s defense was stout against the Comets’ running game, as Coleman rushed 52 times for 153 yards.
Coleman Logan Glazier completed 14-of-30 passes for 132 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He ran 20 times for 27 yards. He made an interception on defense. Dominic Lawrence ran 25 times for 94 yards and had seven catches for 74 yards. Brayden Shrank had a running and receiving touchdown for Coleman.
Fulton has its home and MSAC-Red opener tomorrow, Friday, against Byron.

St. Pat rolls Merrill/Ashley
The Merrill/Ashley 8-man co-op team was manhandled last Thursday by Portland St. Patrick. The Shamrocks led 45-6 en route to a 62-12 win.
Ashley’s Will Long had a 32-yard touchdown catch from Harry Ayotte. Long ran five times for 50 yards. On defense Long made 10 tackles. Tristan Ringle, another Ashley student, made nine tackles.
