Carl Duane Litwiller, 85, of Sumner, went to his heavenly home on Jan. 22, 2024 at Green Acres Assisted Living of Ionia.
[private]He was born in New Haven Township on Feb. 28, 1938, to Gladwin and Merita (Peters) Litwiller.
He was married to Letha Joan Haynes on Oct. 19, 1956. They shared forty-three years together until her passing in January 2000. He then married Rose Marie Hinton on Jan. 7, 2001. They shared twenty-three years together. He was a lifelong farmer along with his son and son-in-law. He loved working the land but also loved soaring through the air flying over and checking on crops. He enjoyed traveling and camping and spent many winters in Florida making life-long friendships. He was a man of few words with a big heart and determined spirit.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 23 years, Rose Marie; children, Kirk (Yvonne) Litwiller, Karla Davis, Jantha (Joseph) Rosencrans, Brenda (Daniel) Maas, and William (Lisa) Hinton; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth and Leonard Litwiller; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eldon and Lynn Litwiller; and sister, Onalee Putnam.
Visitation for him took place on Thurs., Jan. 25, 2024, at the Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City. Funeral services were held on Fri., Jan. 26. Pastors Brian Ruth and Daniel Maas will be officiating. He was laid to rest at the Hayes Road Cemetery in Ithaca. Those who wish may donate in Carl’s memory to Interim Hospice.
