Armando Anguiano – Obituary

Armando Z. Anguiano, a resilient man known for his unwavering spirit and passions, passed away on June 19, 2024, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
[private]He was born on July 1, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas, and grew up in Breckenridge, graduating from Breckenridge High School in 1969. His life journey was marked by determination, creativity, and a deep love for his family.
Diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in childhood, he faced lifelong health challenges with remarkable strength, earning him the nickname ‘warrior’ from his siblings.
In 1974, he married his lifelong love and best friend, Betty Benger, alongside whom he shared a deep and enduring bond.
He is survived by his two sons, Jesus of Spring Lake, and Armando; and his wonderful daughter-in-law, Michelle (Peoples) of Grand Haven. He is also survived by his three cherished grandchildren, Jesus Anguiano, Nathanuel Shoney Anguiano and Lilliana Anguiano, with whom he maintained special relationships and adored celebrating their individual achievements.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Consuelo Anguiano.
He maintained close relationships with his nine siblings throughout his life, Maria Anguiano, Jesse Anguiano, Maximo Anguiano, Bob (Linda) Anguiano, Roy Anguiano, Elsa (Roy Hawkins)Anguiano, Rose (Francis) Anguiano Hurst, Anita (Jesse) Rios, and Teresa Dionise. He remained close with former brother-in-law, David Dionise; and former sister-in-law, Gloria Anguiano. Armando; also leaves numerous nieces and nephews whom he deeply impacted and loved dearly, enjoying time spent together.
Deeply rooted in his community, he chose to reside in the tranquil environment of Spring Lake, where he cherished the beauty of small-town life. Living near the shores of Lake Michigan brought him solace, especially during his favorite pastime of fishing.
He embraced life with zest, finding joy in cooking and delighting in preparing meals for family gatherings. His culinary creations brought warmth and togetherness. Later in life, he discovered a passion for painting and became a featured artist in the Grand Haven Art Walk 2019. Additionally, he found peace and balance through yoga. He enjoyed listening to music from the 50’s and 60’s, with Jose Feliciano being a favorite artist. He took pride in his appearance, often the best-dressed at family events, embodying style, elegance, and dignity.
Reflecting on a life lived with passion and purpose, he retired after 30 years of service as a union member of Heat and Frost Insulators Local 47 where he was a Master Heat and Frost Insulator. He was proud to retire from Eco-Mechanical Insulation LLC, the company founded by his son, Armando.
His legacy lives on through the memories he created with family and friends. His strength, kindness, and creativity touched the lives of all who knew him. As we mourn his passing, let us remember his life with gratitude and continue to cherish the values he held dear.
