[private]Alma College topped 50 points for the third time this season with a 51-13 win last Saturday at Kalamazoo College.
It was the fifth-straight win for the Scots, who improved to 7-2, 5-1 in the MIAA.
The Scots hit the scoreboard first, scoring on a big play strike from Carter St. John to Devon Frenchko. The 75-yard touchdown makes Frenchko Alma’s all-time leader in receiving touchdowns. Up 6-0, the Scots scored again with Ty Lotterman taking a screen pass 18 yards to the house, moving the lead to 13-0.
Kalamazoo hit back with a touchdown of their own, then it was Lotterman again snagging a 50-50 ball in the endzone to bring the score to 20-7. With no scoring in the second quarter, the score still read 20-7 at halftime.
The Scots opened the second half with a bang as Evan Eastman grabbed a tipped pass, rumbling 14 yards for a pick-six. The lead ballooned further with Kahleel Brown scoring from one-yard out.
Trailing 34-7, the Hornets scored a touchdown, missing the PAT. Alma scored a pair of touchdowns in the final period, with Davin Reif scoring from four yards out, and Myles Haggert grabbing a 16-yard touchdown pass. Josh Hernandez capped the scoring with a 35-yard field goal.
St. John was the game’s passing leader, completing 19-of-27 passes for 305 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. Eddie Williams was the rushing leader on the day, racking up 63 yards on the ground. Lotterman led all the game’s receivers with even catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns.
Jett King led the Scots tacklers with 9 total tackles and an interception on top of that. Bryce Fredenburg also grabbed an interception. [private]/
