American Heart Association 2024 Recognition – Stroke – Diabetes Gold Plus
Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death for all Americans and a leading cause of serious long-term disability. Early detection and treatment are key to improving survival, minimizing disability and accelerating recovery times. As the region’s only Comprehensive Stroke Center, we’re able to provide the highest level of care in Mid-Michigan to save lives and improve our patient’s quality of life. “This award is a confirmation of the hard work and dedication provided by the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow and Michigan State University faculty to this community for the treatment and prevention of stroke,” said Shari Heydenburg, director of neurosciences and pulmonary services.
Recognized by The Joint Commission as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, UM Health-Sparrow’s highly skilled team of physicians, radiologists and nurses who are specially trained in stroke care, treats the most complex cases 24 hours a day.
