Harold J. McClintic, 90, of St. Louis, passed away peacefully Fri., May 5, 2023, at Laurels of Mt. Pleasant with his family by his side.
[private]Funeral Services were held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, on Tues., May 9, 2023, with Dr. Keith Wise officiating. Burial took place at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation was held on Mon., May 8, 2023, at the funeral home.
He was born in Shepherd, on Sept. 27, 1932, the son of Carl E. and Pearle Mae (Phelps) McClintic. He graduated from Alma High School with the class of 1950. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. On Feb. 23, 1952, he married Pauline Butler at the Alma United Methodist Church. They have been blessed with seventy-one years of marriage.
He was a hard worker all of his life. At age 18, he began his first job at Michigan Chemical. He then was a salesman for Jenison Hardware in Bay City. He spent the last twenty-two years of his career as Purchasing Manager for Total Petroleum before retiring in 1998. He served St. Louis in many different ways.
He loved baseball and played fast pitch softball for many years. He also enjoyed golf, bowling, and deer hunting. He was an avid sports fan, faithfully cheering for the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and U of M. He loved his family and was devoted to them. He enjoyed dancing; he and Pauline were members of the Saturday Nighters. They were always the first couple on the dance floor. He loved time with his family at their cottage on Higgins Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; three daughters, Cynthia Lynn (Christopher) Ragsdale of Mt. Pleasant, Julie Ann (Patrick) Tooke of Englewood, Colo., and Patricia Sue (Matthew) Cooper of Caledonia; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Daniel Dutton) Ragsdale, Benjamin Tooke, Nicholas Cooper, and Lauren (Jacob) Montney; his sister, Janice Jourdain; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie McClintic and Vivian McClintic; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl (Betteann) McClintic, Dale (Betty) McClintic, Jack McClintic, and Tom McClintic; sisters, Leah (Forrest) Stone, Ruth (Bernie) Woodcock, Joyce (Maynard) Giles, and Thelma (Larry) Sopel; and brother-in-law, John Jourdain.
