Ithaca sweeps Sharks; Alma guard hits 30 twice

[private]Ithaca completed a regular season sweep of St. Louis, winning at home last Friday, 48-29.
Delaney Seaman led Ithaca, 14-2, 5-1 TVC 10-II, with 21 points. Lauryn Humphrey added eight points and Libby Maurer scored seven for the Yellowjackets.
For St. Louis, Natalee Hoyt scored 11 points and Josie Schrot had eight, while Kerregan Wilson pulled in 12 rebounds.
St. Louis is 10-7, 1-5.
Ithaca won a TVC crossover at Midland Bullock Creek, 59-53.
Humphrey scored 14 points, while Seaman had 13 points, Ivy Davenport 12 and Maurer eight points.
For Bullock Creek, Matt Midkiff and Zofia Jean both scored 14 points.
The Sharks lost to Millington, 40-30.
Schrot led St. Louis with 14 points.
Lilly Sherman scored 14 and Reese Goshman had 10 points for Millington.
St. Louis is at home against Saginaw Valley Lutheran on Friday. Ithaca plays host to Clare in a non-conference matchup Tuesday, Feb. 14.

Gracie goes 30-30
After a three-game swoon, the Panthers have won three-consecutive games behind the hot hand of sophomore guard Gracie Mellinger.
The third was last Friday at home against Essexville Garber, 65-59.
Mellinger scored 31 points for the Panthers, with five rebounds, five assists, 10 steals and two blocked shots. Jordan Cleveland had 18 points and 11 rebounds as Alma improved to 10-6 overall, 5-4 in the TVC-8.
That came after Mellinger scored 30 in a 64-51 non-conference win at Chesaning. Bailey Walkington added 14 points for the Panthers.
Alma has a league game tomorrow, Friday at Bay City John Glenn.

Huskies hunt down Bears
Breckenridge won at Ashley last Friday, 67-10. The Huskies jumped out to a 20-2 lead after the first quarter and led 34-5 at halftime.
“Breckenridge came out strong and played a good game to earn the win,” Ashley coach Joe Shaw said.
Megan Goward had 21 points and five assists to lead Breckenridge. Allison Smith had eight points, two assits, two blocked shots; Caleigh Dutton seven points, five assists; Kayla Goward six points, seven rebounds; EmaLee Noack six points, two blocked shots; and Calista Goward seven rebounds.
Ellie Drummond scored four for Ashley.
Breckenridge is 8-8, 7-6 MSAC; Ashley 2-14, 0-13.
Earlier last week the Huskies lost at St. Charles, 52-35. Breckenridge led 21-19 at halftime, before St. Charles went off for 22 in the third quarter.
Megan Goward had 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists for the Huskies and Kayla Goward 12 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
St. Charles was led by Bailey Stimac’s 13 points, with Emily Zelinko scored 12.
Ashley played one of its best games of the season, losing at home to Vestaburg, 42-32.
Drummond had 15 points, 10 rebounds and three steals for the Bears, while Kariss Brady finished with seven points, eighth rebounds, six steals
“We battled the whole night, and did a good job overcoming a slow start in the first quarter to stay in the game,” Shaw said. “We had a lot of missed opportunities close to the basket and at the free throw line that prevented us from being able to get the win.”

Pirates win one, lose one
While Carson City-Crystal shot under 50 percent from the free throw line, the Eagles still sunk 15 to Fulton’s 4-of-6 foul shooting, a key differential in CCC’s 44-26 home court win last Friday.
Kaya Canfield led Fulton with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Aubrey Hessbrook scored 20 and Kennedi Stout had 17 points for the Eagles.
Fulton is 9-8, 8-5 in the MSAC; Carson City-Crystal 13-3, 12-1, a game behind league unbeaten St. Charles in the MSAC standings.
Fulton beat Coleman, 43-33.
Canfield had 17 points for the Pireates and Avery Walden scored eight.
Maddy Miller led the Comets with 15 points. /[private]
