Phyllis Elaine (Rodenbo) Thum, 85 years old went home to our Lord on February 13th, 2022. [private]Phyllis was born November 9th, 1936, in Alma, Mich. to Stanley and Helen (Hraska) Rodenbo. She married the love of her life, Harlow, and they had 56 wonderful and adventurous years together. Preceding Phyllis in death were her parents, brother Wayne, husband, and son David. She is survived by her daughters, LeAnn (Tom) Lindemann and Lori (Mike) Hollaway. One daughter in law Patti (David) Thum, Six grandchildren Brian (Haley) Cook, Brandon (Madison) Cook, Brenna (Allan) Thompson, Alex Thum, Katie Thum and Nick Thum and six great grandchildren. Phoebe, Penelope, Chad, Katie, Emmett, and Kenna.
Her husband Harlow’s job moved them twice in her life. They first moved to Union City, Ind. where she was instrumental in starting the Union City Girls Softball League and was the 17th women in the State of Indiana to get her Basketball Refereeing license. She was on the regional council for Girl Scouts of America, a member of Tri Kappa and Over the Teacups. Later they moved to Dayton, Tenn. where she was a member of the United Methodist Church, served as Chairwoman of the Rhea County Tenn. Republican Woman’s Committee, volunteered with Rhea County Children’s Literacy Program and the Rhea County Library.
She loved to dance with Harlow. She also enjoyed going out on the Tennessee River to fish. She loved to read, play cards especially Bridge but most of all being with her family and friends. She will be missed.
Memorials may be given to the National Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Kidney Fund. Funeral services will be announced at a later date.[private]
