To the Editor:
In response to a letter to the editor dated Sept. 22-11, the author neglects to mention that our Constitution requires a separation of church and state when he mentions the evils of our Supreme Court’s legislations over the past decade. From history we know that The Church of England dictated how their government functioned, which is why our Constitution requires a separation of church and state.
Spirituality is an individual matter and we should seek God’s wisdom for ourselves and our country as individuals and should not be required to do so by our government.
Presently we have a majority in the U.S. Supreme Court who believes that Corporations should rule the country. On Jan. 21, 2010, this Supreme Court ruled that a Corporation is a person. This ruling allows Corporations to pay limitless millions of dollars to politicians and political campaigns with no requirement by the recipients to reveal where the money comes from.
The obvious motive of the Corporation and politicians who pushed for this law was to silence the voice and vote of the people, and clearly demonstrates how evil and greed has taken over the hearts and minds of the majority in our Supreme Court.
People must get more involved in learning about what our government is doing so they can make wise and informed decisions when they vote.
Those, who think that voting is not important, consider this. The President we elect appoints the Supreme Court judges. There are nine of them. None of the five judges who ruled in favor of this law were appointed by President Obama. None of them were appointed by a Democratic President.

To the Editor:
A lot has been said around the county that Ithaca’s football team this season hasn’t much competition, not much good competition that is.
Well, any team can have a bad game no matter just how good they are. For Ithaca, they have blown away every team they’ve played so far, and I hope that continues right into the play offs, and en route to another Detroit visit, knock on wood.
The Alma football team is no slouch either this season, and any Gratiot County team that is doing well, has a fan in me. No matter what the record of a team in our area, I look forward to the story of their recent game in the Gratiot County Herald, which provides great coverage of local sports activities.
It is noteworthy that back up quarterback, Travis Smith, for Ithaca, is doing just fine in subbing for injured starting quarterback, David Brown, and here’s hoping that success continues way down the line. Ithaca’s running game is awesome, with Miniard the plow that turns the turf into huge gains of plenty. And the defense is second to none, being very stingy and keeping the opposition at a stand still when they have the ball.
So keep up the good blue collar work you Yellowjackets, and hope to see you at every game in at least the regular season, and we’ll see just how many play off games, if not too far to travel, I can attend. In fact, good luck to all Gratiot County athletic teams and keep smiling, no matter if with a win or loss.
Sincerely,
Rex Coleman
Ithaca
