To the Editor:

Hello fellow Alma Panthers! I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their supportive words, phone calls, and e-mails. It is truly my pleasure to be able to represent Alma High School as the Athletic Director.

Late in the summer of 1997 I walked through the doors of Alma High School as a nervous but excited 9th grade student. With the support of teachers, coaches, administrators, and my family I learned what it took to be successful and what it means to have Panther Pride. Fourteen years later I feel the same nervous excitement and pride as I start my role as Athletic Director.

In order for our student athletes and our athletic program to be successful we need support from educators, parents, local businesses, and community members. It is my goal that this support will compliment and strengthen what I consider to be one of the best academic environments in the state. Every person who supports our program makes a positive impact. Please e-mail me (ehuff@almaschools.net) if you are interested in volunteering or helping.

I am looking forward to working with the community and having the opportunity to represent Alma Public Schools with integrity and pride. Go Panthers!

Sincerely,

Eric W. Huff

Dear St. Louis Parents and Students,

As many of you know, several changes have occurred at St. Louis Public Schools this summer. These changes have stirred up a variety of emotions. The teaching staff, however, is eager to begin the school year.

St. Louis teachers would also like you to know that there are a lot of exciting things currently happening in our schools. New technology has been installed in some of the classrooms with the assistance of the St. Louis Technology Foundation. The Board of Education has committed funds to upgrade the High School and Middle School computer labs. Many teachers are participating in professional development opportunities including technology training.

Some new and enthusiastic teachers have been hired into the district to reduce class size and provide additional courses for students. Most of our laid off staff has returned to the classroom. The teaching staff is working hard to tweak the curriculum in order to provide a rigorous and relevant curriculum geared towards our 21st century learners.

We are looking forward to a year filled with collaboration and communication between students, parents, and staff in order to ensure success and growth for all.

See you on Tuesday, September 6th!

Sincerely,

St. Louis Public Schools
Teaching Staff
Beth Philson
