Dear Editor:

The annual fundraiser banquet for the Fred Meijer Heartland Trail was held Saturday, May 7. The funds from this dinner are used for maintenance of the existing trail, insurance, road markers snowmobile barriers, etc. All maintenance on the trail, except for contracted work, is done by volunteers. The group thanks all of those who attended, and especially wishes to thank those who donated and purchased the many items for the Silent Auction. This is also to congratulate those who were lucky enough to win one of the raffle prizes. Following is a list of the raffle donors and the winners:

Weekend for four donated by Insel Haus BB on Bois Blanc Island won by Char Bebiak, Stanton.

Head table centerpiece donated by R & P Painter, Lakeview, won by Marjorie Morford, Alma.

Package for two (1 night, two days) at McGuire’s Resort, Cadillac, won by Pete Poff, Ashley.

Weekend for two nights for two at Cloghan House BB, Mackinaw Island, won by John Chenoweth, Lakeview.

Bicycle donated by Dennis’ Bike Shop, Alma, won by Scott Welch, Alma.

Bicycle donated by Freewheeler Bike Shop, Greenville, won by Trace Zerka, Stanton.

Special thanks to Miller Insurance Agency of Edmore who sponsored the raffle tickets and to GFWC Edmore Woman’s Club who arranged for the use of the Curtis Building.

Without the help of donors like these the maintenance and development of the trail would not be done.
